Biography
As the Chief Risk Officer of Prospera, Brian plays a critical role in safeguarding the credit union against competitive, regulatory and operational threats. His responsibilities span key functional areas, such as credit adjudication and recovery, enterprise risk management, compliance and centralized services.
Brian joined Prospera in 2015 after holding various positions within the credit union system. At Coast Capital Savings, he served as the Vice President of Corporate Development, contributing significantly to the institution’s growth and strategic initiatives. His career in the financial industry spans more than three decades, including 16 years with HSBC Bank Canada, where he concluded his tenure as the Head of Business Banking for Canada. Throughout his professional journey, Brian has amassed a wealth of experience in credit, commercial banking, credit risk management and corporate development.
Brian holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, highlighting his commitment to excellence and expertise in financial analysis. He also earned an MBA degree from York University, a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia, and has achieved the ICD.D designation, further underscoring his commitment to board governance and leadership.
With his extensive knowledge and skill set, Brian is instrumental in guiding Prospera’s risk management strategies and ensuring the credit union’s continued success in a complex and evolving financial landscape.
